Study of bioactive films from natural polysaccharides and plant extracts

Project no.: S-SV-23-163

Project description:

Various oral cavity infections are one of the most progressive pathologies in the world. They are associated with the deteriorating quality of life of patients and increasing health costs. In order to solve this problem, self-degrading films with immobilized natural bioactive compounds can be used in the oral mucosa, which are applied to the oral mucosa in the form of strips, and when they decompose or swell, these bioactive compounds are released. The aim of this project is to form bioactive long-acting oral mucosa-degradable films from natural polysaccharide derivatives and plant extract and to study their properties.

Project results:

During the project, the multilayer films will be formed by using natural polysaccharide derivatives, auxiliary materials and bioactive plant extracts, and their properties will be investigated. The young researcher participating in the project will gain new competencies in the field of research on self-degrading films with immobilized natural bioactive compounds for the oral mucosa.
