In response to the European Commission’s February 2021 strategy on adapting to climate change, the ADAPTO project was initiated to enhance regional resilience against the unavoidable impacts of climate change. This project involves eight European partners collaborating to develop robust climate adaptation strategies tailored to their unique territorial challenges and vulnerabilities. The primary goal of ADAPTO is to facilitate an interregional exchange of ideas and practices, aiding in the design, implementation, and monitoring of effective adaptation measures.
Project funding:
2021-2027 Interreg EUROPE programme
Project results:
ADAPTO aims to assess the current state of climate adaptation across these regions, identify and disseminate Good Practices, and strengthen the capacity of public authorities and stakeholders. This is achieved through multi-level governance and cooperation, ensuring a systemic approach to defining adaptation goals and evaluating the effectiveness of actions. By enhancing knowledge and foresight, characterizing adaptive capacities, and addressing specific climate hazards, ADAPTO strives to improve the governance and coordination necessary for successful adaptation across various sectors and demographic levels.
Period of project implementation: 2024-04-01 - 2028-06-30
Project partners: Kaunas University of Technology
