Project description:

The project aims to develop and verify a multiplex rapid diagnostic test for the diagnosis of multiple viral respiratory infections. Commercially available rapid viral antigen detection tests are limited to 2-3 targets. The developed test prototype is able to detect 6-8 suitable viruses (SARS-Co-2, influenza, parainfluenza, RSV, etc.) infecting the respiratory tract. These viruses cause very similar or even identical symptoms, but their risks of infection and public health are different. In the project, the test model developed by UAB Sanpharm was tested in laboratory conditions (TLR 5). Technological improvements increased its efficiency. Nanoparticle colloids developed by UAB Nanoversa were tested in immunochromatographic tests and laser micromachining of nitrocellulose membrane surface was performed at Kaunas University of Technology.

Project funding:

The Project is funded by the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania under measure “Development of Biotechnology Industry in Lithuania”

Project results:

The project was completed with the final prototype of the diagnostic test and the production of their trial batch (TRL 8). These tests do not require complex and expensive equipment, which makes them an attractive product for their functionality and ease of use.
