Ornamentation of West Ukrainian and Lithuanian Folk Textile: Universal and Unique Parameters (ORNATEX)

Project description:

It will be sheared experience about investigations of folk textile ornamentation in Lithuania and West Ukraine. These investigations include technological, ethnological and artistic-stylistic aspects. Such research is especially important for cultural cooperation of both countries. Universal and unique parameters of folk textile ornamentation of both countries, which have a lot of similar historical relations, will be compared and analysed during the Project. Their similarities and diferences will be found. It will be sheared experience in textile ornamentation analysis using artistic-stylistic methods from Ukrainian side and technological and ethnological methods – from Lithuanian side. Folk ornaments will be not only analyzed in each country, but also it will be learnt and sheared experience between countries in these fields. Such investigations are very important today, when societies in Europe and arround the world become more and more cosmopolitan. It is very actual to preserve folk identity in this socio-cultural environment, which leads to close cooperation between two countries exeprienced similar historical circumstances in European and world contexts.

4 popular articles, 2 scientific articles in Ukrainian journal, 1 scientific article in Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge data base international journal. 4 organized seminars in Lithuania and 4 seminars in Ukraine.
