Novel Pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridines: Synthesis and Investigation of Anticancer Properties (PyrSynth)

Project description:

The successful development of high-tech sectors, such as pharmaceutical industry, is much dependant on availability of novel organic materials. Organic materials are usually obtained by converting structurally simple molecules to more complex functional derivatives by employing various chemical reactions. The obtained compounds are further modified to functional materials possessing target properties. For instance, most of the drug molecules contain at least one or several condensed or coupled heterocyclic rings which are bond by carbon, nitrogen or sulphur atoms.
The aim of this project is to develop synthesis, structural and functional properties investigation of functionalized heterocyclic systems, such as pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridines. Novel materials with targeted properties will be obtained by applying modern organic synthesis methods, such as Pd-catalysed cross-coupling reactions, metal catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions, selective introduction of functional groups, etc. The structure of synthesized compounds will be investigated by IR-, UV-Vis-, NMR-spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and a single crystal X-ray analysis.

Project results:

During the project, new functionalized heterocyclic systems were synthesized, in cooperation with research partners at Palacky University (Czech Republic), biological activity studies of the synthesized compounds were conducted.
