The aim of the project is to ensure the efficient use of Kaunas University of Technology (hereinafter referred to as KTU) infrastructure, the existing and the newly developed one, as well as human capital required for high-level international research, experimental development, and innovation needs by integrating the infrastructure of the Food Institute into the Faculty of Chemical Technology.
Project funding:
This research project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments under measure No. 01.1.1-CPVA-V-701 “Development of research, experimental development and innovation infrastructure and integration into European infrastructures”.
Project results:
Following the implementation of the project activities an efficient food, biotechnology and chemical engineering research centre equipped with state-of-the-art technological and analytical equipment that will be employed by highly qualified researchers and technologists performing R&D work required to boost competitiveness and sustainable development of the national food industry at international level will be established.
Equipment for food science, engineering, technology, the safety of food chain, food quality analysis, and food bioavailability research aimed at modelling, optimising and studying the processes of foodstuffs composition/ compliance, sustainable food production and product storage, at developing innovative products and food processing processes will be concentrated in one place. This will provide optimal conditions for maximising the use of accumulated human potential.
Period of project implementation: 2019-02-27 - 2022-02-28
