MexOyCazSiq Nano Sized Compounds Synthesis and Application in Energy Efficient Technologies (STEET)

Project no.: PP-91E/19

Project description:

During the project, it is intended to is to create an eco-friendly technology for obtaining multifunctional MexOyCazSiq nano sized compounds, which will combine the hydrothermal/microwave synthesis of precursors and solid-state sintering at lower than 950 ?C temperature.
By implementing the project it is expected to achieve a complex effect: 1) to develop controlled structure MexOyCazSiq-H2O nano sized compounds and apply them in the production of chemosorbents and catalysts (it is planned to obtain effective chemosorbents for the removal of CO2 by using IA and IIA group metal oxides as MexOy source; it is planned to obtain effective catalysts for the removal of volatile organic compounds by using transition metal oxides as MexOy source); 2) to use energy-saving (low energy) technologies and to reduce the energy consumption by 25-30 %, during production of controlled structure nano sized compounds; 3) to expand the range of chemosorbents and catalysts used for the reduction of atmospheric pollutants.
During the project, the influence of nature of raw materials, composition of dry mixtures and hydrothermal/microwave synthesis parameters on the formation of controlled structure and properties layered double hydroxides (precursors), and also on their dispersity, texture, crystal lattice parameters and thermal stability will be investigated; the effect of chemical composition of precursors on the formation kinetics of MexAlyOz nano sized compounds, their structure and morphology will be determined; the influence of tribochemical activation and solid-sintering conditions on the mineralogical composition, reactivity and stability of MexAlyOz nano sized compounds will be examined. It is intended to investigate the possibilities of MexAlyOz nano sized compounds application in adsorbents-catalysts production and to prepare recommendations for the industry.
