Project description:

The Lithuanian Chips Competence Centre (ChipsC2-LT) is a national initiative aimed at advancing cutting-edge semiconductor technologies and strengthening the competitiveness of Lithuania’s semiconductor industry in Europe.

The objective of the project : to establish a one-stop-shop Chips Competence Centre in Lithuania that will support innovation and growth within the national semiconductor industry.

ChipsC2-LT combines the expertise of the country’s leading research and higher education institutions and specializes in chip design, heterogeneous integration, power electronics and photonic integrated circuit manufacturing to meet the needs of local industries related to e-mobility, security and communications sectors.

Project results:

The project aims: to strengthen the capacity and skills base of Lithuania’s semiconductor and electronics industry and to contribute to Europe’s strategic autonomy in this critical industrial sector by providing comprehensive support, including:

· Access to advanced design tools, prototyping facilities, and testing infrastructure;

· Development of training and upskilling programmes to address the semiconductor talent gap;

· Assistance with patent, licensing and compliance issues. Support for technology transfer and commercialization for startups and SMEs;

· Outreach, networking and ecosystem development to provide Lithuanian industrial companies with access to European semiconductor hubs;

· Guidance on attracting funding from the European Chips Fund and other financing mechanisms.

By leveraging Lithuania’s strengths in areas such as photonics and THz technologies, while developing new capabilities that meet EU priorities, ChipsC2-LT will play a key role in strengthening Lithuania’s position as one of the emerging semiconductor innovation hubs in Europe.
