Installation of renewable energy sources in the buildings of Kaunas University of Technology

Project no.: KKS-S-2(2017)

Project description:

In order to reduce energy consumption in buildings of Kaunas University of Technology, promote the development of sustainable energy production systems and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, it is planned to modernize heat and electricity of KTU IX building by installing a solar photovoltaic power plant for electricity generation and a geothermal energy system

Project results:

Results of the project will make a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions and implementation of National Renewable Energy Development Strategy, which aims to increase the share of renewable energy sources in final energy consumption up to 23 % and to significantly strengthen Lithuania’s energy independence. The implementation of the project will reduce the impact on the environment and climate change, also it will provide financial and scientific benefits to Kaunas University of Technology, i.e. the planned measures will provide students with an opportunity to get acquainted with the application of efficient energy production engineering systems, will promote their development and expansion
