Installation of renewable energy sources in the buildings of Kaunas University of Technology

Project description:

In order to reduce energy consumption in buildings of Kaunas University of Technology, to promote the development of renewable energy sources and to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, it is planned to install a solar photovoltaic power plant on four buildings of Kaunas University of Technology for electricity generation.


Project results:

Project results will allow to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions which contributes to the greenhouse gases effect, will contribute to the implementation of the aim of National energy independence strategies and will induce the usage of renewable energy sources up to 45 % till 2030. This will strengthen Lithuanian energetic independence.
Besides reduced impact on the environment and climate change, Kaunas University of technology will gain financial and scientific benefit, too. The planned measures will present students how to apply effective engineering system of energy production, will encourage their development and expansion.
