The textile and fashion industry is rapidly transforming towards a circular one, but it is one of the most polluting industries. Firms operating in global value chains face challenges such as trying to reconcile the principles of sustainable production and consumers’ irresponsible use of textiles, which creates sustainability tensions. The purpose of the study is to perform a study of Lithuanian companies established in global value chains, in order to reveal emerging sustainability tensions and companies’ responses to them.
Project results:
The research will allow to identify sustainability tensions in global value chains, taking into account the European Green Course initiatives and other regulatory and standardization measures, and reveal the responses and applicable management practices of Lithuanian companies operating in the global value chains of the textile and fashion industry.
