Faces of War: Visual Communication of the Conflict in Ukraine in Lithuanian News Media (FACES)

Project description:

This project analyses the visual communication of the War in Ukraine in Lithuanian online news media. The theoretical part of the project discusses the significance of visual information in the context of political conflict representation. The rest of the project presents the results of empirical media content analysis and eye-tracking experiment research, revealing what categories of visualizations are used in Lithuanian media articles and which of them affect the population the most.


Project results:

The research showed that news media communicating about the war in Ukraine mostly uses pictures of political leaders in its content, however, the population is more affected by images of war victims that have a strong emotional charge.
