EIT FOOD HUB


Project description:

EIT Food Hub – operates as a coordinator of EIT Food activities in Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) countries. EIT Food Hub seeks to implement numerous agri-food related activities, transfers the best practices of EIT Food to their respective countries/regions, working with local agri-food stakeholder networks to strengthen their innovative capacities, promotes the brand visibility of EIT in targeted countries and carries out localised activities as part of the EIT Food RIS portfolio.
EIT Food Hub targets talents and stakeholders from the three different knowledge triangle pillars – research, education and business. EIT Food is seeking to engage consumers in the change process, improve nutrition and make food system more resource-efficient, secure, transparent ant trusted.

Project results:

In 2018 KTU was the coordinator of EIT Food activities in Lithuania: there were organised events, dedicated for the stakeholders of agri-food area. The results:
1) EIT Food Awareness Day – the event aimed to bring local stakeholders together and to raise awareness of EIT Food and opportunities. More than 50 stakeholders from the different fields, including business, research and academia have met and attended open discussion about the possibilities for further cooperation.
2) EIT Food RIS Fellowships: selection process for the internship, including workshop, were held at KTU Santaka Valley, 2018 (June).
3) EIT Food Government Executive Academy brought together 39 government representatives from 13 RIS countries with experts working in the field of agri-food innovations from industry, academia and European institutions, including the representatives of ministries from Lithuania.
4) EIT Food RIS Innovation Grants/Demo Day – the competition for the young innovative agri-food business. During the final in Lithuania 10 teams competed for the money prize of 15.000 EUR.
