The eUMaP project aims to develop an open platform to assist local authorities in managing building utilities – such as energy, water, waste, and telecommunications – during quarantine and lockdown situations. This initiative addresses challenges that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, where a sudden shift to home-based activities led to issues like power outages and insufficient internet connectivity.
Project funding:
EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation “Horizon 2020”
Project results:
By integrating GIS and sensors’ data into open Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms, eUMaP enhances the planning and management of utility demands. The platform is being piloted in five European cities: Rome, Thessaloniki, Kaunas, and Nicosia – to optimize its functionality. Upon completion, eUMaP will be available as an open platform, providing valuable tools for local authorities to better handle utility management during future crises.
