Development of novel biopolymer-based bioactive materials

Project no.: P-LZ-19-13

Project description:

The implementation of the collaborational scientific project is based on joining the capacities and exploiting the complementarities of two research teams (Kaunas University of Technology and University of Bordo). Firstly novel functional polysaccharide matrices will be obtained by the means of chemical and/or physical modification of natural polysaccharides. Afterwards, the natural bioactive compounds and extracts will be selected and the interactions of those and modified polysaccharides will be studied. Then antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of the obtained active formulations and coatings will evaluated and the prototypes of bioactive coatings for biopesticide and packaging applications will be developed.

Project funding:

Interngovernmental programme administrated by Research Council of Lithuania: Lithuania–France (“GILIBERT”)

Project results:

It is planned to develop several new prototypes of bioactive coatings for biopesticide and packaging applications. Joint dissemination activities (scientific publications, international conference participation) are foreseen as a part of collaborational project.
