Development of citizen science activities at Kaunas University of Technology

Project description:

The aim of the project is to develop citizen science activities in order to increase Kaunas University of Technology community’s participation in citizen science projects and also to promote involvement and participation of public in research, cooperation between researchers and public to solve relevant issues and challenges.
Research has revealed that the main barriers to involve in citizen science projects are related to the lack of knowledge, abilities and competences, low visibility of citizen science projects, low priority and interest from the scientific community. The project implemented by Kaunas University of Technology will contribute to solving these problems by preparing the strategy and plan for university’s citizen science activities, developing university’s community and public’s competences to initiate and implement citizen science projects, disseminating citizen science and sharing good practice.

Project results:

Results of the project: (1) a clear and specific strategy and plan for the development of citizen science activities at Kaunas University of Technology; (2) increased competences of researchers to implement citizen science projects; (3) increased awareness among researchers and the public about citizen science and its importance.
