Development and prototyping of 3D nano/micro fibre printing technology

Project no.: TPP-03-008

Project description:

Fibrous purposely positioned nano and micro structures have broad applications in the field of medicine, pharmacy, chemical engineering, energy, and other sectors. The integration of 3D printing and micro/nano fibre formation processes enable creating novel technology with high potential in medical 3D printing. The idea of the project involved development and prototyping of 3D fibre (3Df) printing technology, resulting into market ready printer prototype. The project will enable installing 2D fibre printing technology based on electrospinning process to a 3Df printer, testing operating ranges of parameters and obtained structures, automating the device, creating user interface and industrial design, thus preparing for the commercialization and production. The developed prototype will correspond to the Technology Readiness Level No. 7.

Project funding:

Projects funded by the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology

Project results:

3D fibre printing technology prototype (according to Government of the Republic of Lithuania June 6th Resolution No. 650 „Concerning the approval of the recommended classification of the stages of research and experimental development“ Technology readiness level – 7). During the implementation of the project a prototype (trial version) close to the final product will be created. This prototype will be tested and demonstrated in collaboration with potential users and investors.
