Project description:

The primary research focus will be on the whole-genome approach enabling identification of endogenous transcription-based inducible systems in several metabolically-rich bacterial species. These systems will subsequently be quantitatively characterized and developed into broad-host range biosensors, which will be applied in biorefinery process and for improved production of natural products relevant to agriculture and food industry.

We will have built and developed the portfolio of biosensors suitable for application in several microorganism chassis. Developed biosensors will be suitable for application in the Innovative Development, Improvement and Processing of Biological Raw Materials, which is part of the Agriculture Innovation and Food Technologies priority area. The project will be focused on achieving research outputs that have, or will eventually lead to, commercial application and implementation nationally and provide the scope for international application. It will also ensure that opportunities for non-commercial application and exploitation of the outputs are pursued vigorously. This will mainly take the form of ensuring the communication of the outputs to both the scientific community at large, the general public and government organizations.
