Research is carried out in the field of organic electronics, focusing on the development of organic light emitting diodes (OLED) technologies. Recently, there has been a major breakthrough in organic light-based flat panel display technology and is now expanding into the lighting technology market. The world’s leading electronics companies „Sony“, „Samsung Electronics“, „LG Display“ and others have already commercialized OLED displays and TVs, and OLED lighting sources from „Osram“, „Philips“, „LEDVANCE“ and others are currently entering the market. About 30% of global electricity is used for lighting. After the adoption and application of organic lamps (OLED lighting) in lighting technologies, the efficiency of lighting devices would increase significantly, so it would be possible to save up to 15% of global electricity, which confirms the practical value of these scientific works.
Project funding:
Support to Lithuanian research and study institutions, employing researchers from Ukraine
Project results:
Planned research is closely related to energy-saving lighting technologies, i.e. economic-social impact on society. Currently, about 30% of global electricity is used for lighting. Up to 15% of global electricity is predicted to be saved by adoption of lighting technologies using cheap but efficient organic lamps. The results of the project are planned to be described in articles for prestigious journals from the list of the Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics) database and presented at international conferences.
Period of project implementation: 2023-07-03 - 2023-12-29
Project coordinator: Kaunas University of Technology
