Project description:
During the implementation of the project, a joint “Centre of Excellence of AI for Sustainable Living and Working (SustAInLivWork)” will be created, which will act as a scientific lighthouse in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in Baltic Sea region and beyond. The established center will foster synergy between business and public sector, it will also act as a role model for improving Lithuanian R&D culture and aim to develop and promote interdisciplinary, ethical and sustainable research in the field of AI, applying it in manufacturing, energy, health and transport sectors.
The project aims to contribute to state-level strategic documents as well as to the implementation of EU strategies, goals and agreements, focusing on Lithuania’s AI strategy and the goals of the EU AI plan. The project’s activities will strengthen research and innovation capacities, promote the development of digital competences in the fields of high-performance computing, AI, cyber security, promote the digitization of small and medium-sized enterprises’ activities, the development of high added value products, increase the attractiveness of researchers’ career and educate new researchers in the field of AI, thus contributing to the priorities of European Regional Development Fund 2021-2027.

Problem solution:
The SustAInLivWork Centre of Excellence will contribute to the modernization of higher education role and strengthen Lithuania’s scientific capabilities in the AI ecosystem. It will improve implementation of national and international reforms related not only to the optimization of technological processes or the acceleration of added value from investments in R&D, but will also contribute to other ambitious goals of Lithuania: to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, to achieve climate neutrality for the environment, to foster citizens’ well-being, sustainable behavior and industrial competitiveness.

The goal of the project is to create a joint “Centre of Excellence of AI for Sustainable Living and Working (SustAInLivWork)” in Lithuania, which will perform a significant role in creating and applying AI based R&D solutions in manufacturing, energy, health and transport sectors.

The main activities of the project: increasing the internationality of science in western and central Lithuania and Capital Region.

Funded under the European Union Funds’ Investments 2021-2027, co-funded by European Union and the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania.
