Center for Ultrasonic Non-Destructive Testing, Measurement, and Diagnostics (ULTRATEST)

Project no.: 01.1.1-CPVA-V-701-14-0001

Project description:

The purpose of the project is more active use of the existing and newly created R&D infrastructure of the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Prof. K. Baršauskas Institute of Ultrasound Science in order to expand opportunities to participate in international and/or regional initiative projects. The goal of the project is to solve the task of “Creating and updating the necessary infrastructure for conducting scientific research in the fields of ultrasonic non-destructive testing, measurements and diagnostics and participating in international initiatives”. The created infrastructure will improve the the infrastructure of the Santaka Integrated Science, Study and Business Center created during the period 2007-2013. Currently The Prof. K. Baršauskas Institute of Ultrasound Science is the only one in Lithuania and the Baltic Sea region that has installed concentrated high-level ultrasound measurement and diagnostic equipment in one place – KTU in the Santaka Valley. In order to improve the services provided by the institute at the KTU Open Access Center, to meet the technical context of modern research infrastructures, to initiate or contribute to the preparation of applications of a high international level, to contribute to the creation of common value through cooperation with business enterprises, and in this way to promote opportunities not only for scientific-business cooperation, but also to increase investments in scientific research, it is necessary to update and expand the existing scientific infrastructure. The project’s target groups are university researchers, researchers, teachers, students of all levels, business companies (Lithuanian and foreign). The project contributes to the EU strategy for the Baltic Sea region, where the aspect of regional prosperity is emphasized. This strategy is associated with the introduction and development of innovations, the development of scientific research and close cooperation between the countries of the region in order to strengthen the sharing of scientific research, knowledge and experience.

Project funding:
