The project involves the development of compostable polymeric materials for a new type of antimicrobial packaging using extracts of plants capable of forming films. For this purpose, extracts from the roots of Symphytum officinale L, Glycyrrhiza glabra and Althaea officinalis are used, which contain a high content of polysaccharides and phenolic compounds with antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral activities. The possibility of obtaining polymeric films from mixtures of biodegradable polymers and presented plant root extracts is also investigated.
Project results:
Flexible compostable films suitable for food packaging will be formed.
