Vincas Kęstutis Babilius

Vincas Kęstutis Babilius (Lithuania) was a political figure, engineer, entrepreneur, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania (1996–1999), long-standing president of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, KTU graduate.

V. K. Babilius was appointed as the senior engineer of Vilnius Electricity Measurement Technology Factory in 1962; he was the general manager of this factory in 1982–1996.

Babilius was the member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania in 1993; chairman of the Board of the company Elgamos Grupė in 2002–2003.

Scholarship was initiated by Saulius Džiugelis, chairman of the Board of the company Elgamos Grupė, for commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the death of Vincas Kęstutis Babilius. Decision to award the scholarship was made in the meeting of the Company’s Board on 7 November 2013.

Contract on the scholarship was signed on 24.02.14.

Amount of the scholarship is 499 EUR.

Competition is announced in spring.

Scholarship can be awarded to:

  • Bachelor’s students, who study technologies, Electronics Engineering, Production Engineering and Mechanical Engineering
  • Master’s students, who study Measurement Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunication Systems, Systems of Information Programmes, Mechanical Engineering
  • Study results must meet at least 8 grade point average
  • Works prepared by the student during studies (course papers, scientific papers, etc.) must completely or partially fall into the following topics: Zigbee (IEEE 802.15), wireless Meter-bus (EN 13757-2, EN 13757-3), Power Line Communication, data transfer, digital signal processing, measurement of power and/or voltage quality, automation of production processes, configuration management.
