Ramutis Petras Bansevičius

Ramutis Petras Bansevičius (Lithuania) – Professor, Habilitated Doctor of Science in Technology, mechanical engineer, the Chairman of KTU Senate (1996–2000) and the Rector (2000–2007).

Bancevičius, whose scientific activities are recognised both in Lithuania and abroad, made more than 300 inventions, among them: tablet for the work of blind people with two dimensional graphics and Internet, piezoelectric robotic manipulators and other significant practical devices.

Professor is the author of more than 250 scientific papers, 7 books in the dynamics of precise systems, 18 foreign patents. Bansevičius created the fundamentals of piezo-mechanics and their application in the realisation of new class of precise mechanisms – piezoelectric gear of several degrees of freedom.

Bansevičius was leading KTU (former KPI) Department of Machinery Production (1985–1995), Department of Production Systems (1995–1996) and the laboratory of Vibrotechnika Research Centre .

Professor is Commander of the Order of the Crown (Belgium) (2006); he was awarded the Lithuanian Science Prize (with co-authors) for the cycle of works “Piezo-mechanical Systems: Theory and Application” in 2010.

Professor Bansevičius was also awarded the 5 class Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas in 1999.
