Professor contributed largely in implementation of the international research and study programmes Europe-wise. Professor Knight, his colleagues and students participated in “Erasmus” programme; in the course of implementation of this programme, the scientists prepared a special course of studies.

While coordinating TEMPUS programme, he aimed to introduce the business in engineering to the specialists of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia, to provide them with possibilities of traineeships in England and Germany.

The title of Honorary Doctor was awarded for the following merits to the University:

  • Implementation of TEMPUS programme, coordinated by Prof Knight, at the former KTU Faculty of Mechanics (later – Faculty of Mechanics and Mechatronics) included the establishment of a contemporary Laboratory of Automated Design of Technological Processes, equipped by instruments, computers, specialised software and educational literature.
  • Professor Knight conducted scientific research in cooperation with KTU scientists, published joint articles, funded the researchers’ traineeships.
  • Thanks to the Professor, connections were made with Norwegian and German universities in the area of quality management.
