Ethical Hacking for Peace – A Free EU Funded Course via the augMENTOR Project

This course is designed for beginners with no prior experience in cybersecurity. Throughout the course, even without programming skills, you will learn how to protect yourself from cybercrime and ensure the security of your work-related data online. This online course covers the most important aspects of cybersecurity, offering simple explanations on how hackers operate and the potential threats that could impact your digital activities.

The course is ideal for professionals in journalism, NGOs, and government institutions. This self-paced course will provide you with practical skills to enhance your digital security and create a safe working environment for you and your team.

Over eight weeks, you will gain foundational knowledge in cybersecurity and learn how to identify and avoid online threats. The curriculum covers essential topics such as using antivirus software, recognizing phishing emails and viruses, understanding hacker behavior, and becoming familiar with the software used in cyberattacks.

As hacking becomes increasingly intertwined with information gathering and processing, the course emphasizes open-source intelligence (OSINT) and different online information “zones.” You will learn how to access the dark web and understand the differences between gray and white internet zones.

Additionally, the course introduces the basics of Python programming, helping you to install and use various data collection and analysis tools with just a few commands. These tools will enable you to quickly identify cyber threats and efficiently gather and analyze information from the vast resources of the internet.

Upon completing the course, you will receive a certificate from Kaunas University of Technology, endorsed by the Austrian Centre for Peace and the European Security and Defense College, and funded by the European Union as part of the augMENTOR project.
