Annotation:

The aim of the dissertation – to develop a model, based on the index for complex evaluation of country‘s investment to technologies, which enables to identify the position of the country within a context of other countries and to define dynamic relations between investment to technologies factors and macroeconomic indicators. Following comparative analysis of investment to technologies factors in economic theories and the analysis of world-known indexes construction methodologies, the model for complex evaluation of country‘s investment to technologies was developed. The model is based on the construction and calculation of composite index. The analysis of investment to technologies factors was made and the index was characterized by three dimensions: Technology system, Business enterprises activities and Technological achievement. The empirical investigation was conducted using the data of 28 European Union countries. Results of the investigation enabled to distribute the dimensions of the index to sub-groups of indicators that helps for better understanding of the index structure, to classify the countries according to their investment to technologies and to define their strength and weak areas. Granger causality test was performed and the causal relations between investment to technologies factors and macroeconomic indicators of a country were identified. The model can be used as economic analysis tool for the evaluation of country’s policy effectiveness when investing to technologies and identification of investment to technologies priority directions.
