Annotation: This dissertation is based on four scientific publications examining digital healthcare. It investigates how the entrepreneurial mindset, dynamic capabilities, and open innovation enhance digital healthcare performance, understood as the improvement of clinical, economic, and experiential outcomes, as well as the competitiveness of digital health start-ups. The main research question explores how these managerial constructs contribute to enhanced digital healthcare performance. The first publication shows that start-up success depends on complementary configurations of entrepreneurial decisions, including funding, technology, and business model choices. The second reveals that founders’ experience and education increase managerial effectiveness, which strengthens start-up performance in conditions of dynamic competition. The third demonstrates that stronger dynamic capabilities are associated with more advanced digital healthcare performance. The fourth shows that open innovation has an indirect effect on clinical and economic outcomes by improving patient and healthcare professional experience. The dissertation integrates these findings and proposes a conceptual model for future research, emphasizing that enhanced digital healthcare performance is achieved not through isolated initiatives but through the alignment of entrepreneurial decision-making, organizational dynamic capabilities, and strategically applied open innovation practices.
