Annotation:

Analysis of literature sources revealed the tendency that after treatment of textile materials with agents ensuring antibacterial effect of various spectra, the influence of the treatment used on antibacterial activity was examined. However, the investigation was limited with using elementary knitting structure. Whereas, sophisticated structure knits characterized by much more comprehensive functional properties are popular in the market. Nowadays, development of innovative textile products shows the trend that a product of special purpose must ensure the comfort of the wearer. Therefore, research of antibacterial treatment and structural factors has to be carried out in a complex manner.

The main novelty of the work is that it determined the influence of fibre composition of plain plated knit on the efficiency of antibacterial treatment. It also assessed the influence of antibacterial treatment on structural changes, and physical and functional properties. None of the above has been analysed by other researchers so far. Moreover, the thesis indicates the methodology allowing evaluation of antibacterial activity of plain plated knits made of different fibre composition yarns. The results obtained have a significant practical importance as they allow predicting what influence antibacterial treatment will have on the structure of plain plated knits made of different fibre composition yarns, and the changes of physical properties related therewith. The results also help to determine the expected level of antibacterial activity on one or the other side of the knit when it is knitted from yarns of different types of fibres, and to estimate antibacterial activity precisely.
