Annotation: Today, most of the 0,4–35 kV electric distribution network and its components operating in Lithuania have a service life of more than 30 years. Faults, a lack of network capacity and transmission capability, long repair and restoration times, and high energy losses complicate the operation of the electricity system. The data on faults and outages recorded to assess reliability are not accurate and reliable, which makes the assessment abstract and does not reflect the actual situation of the electrical distribution network. The methodology for assessing the reliability of the electrical distribution network, based on the assessment of the network status, allows to evaluate the impact of different factors on the reliability indexes from technical and economic aspects, and to select the optimal solutions when the topology of the electrical network is changed. The Reliability Assessment Methodology enhances the ability to predict network failures, analyse different network configurations and make more efficient network planning decisions, resulting in improved network reliability and uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers. This can be useful for network operators to react more quickly to emergency situations, plan network configurations and make strategic decisions, while ensuring a reliable supply of electrical energy to consumers and reducing the cost of electricity supply.
