Freedom: What Does It Mean to Us Today

On 13 January 1991 people of Lithuania said boldly to the whole world: we are free and we will always protect our birth right to be the citizens of our own land. Celebrating the Freedom Defenders’ Day, you are invited to remember the events of that night from today’s perspective, and to honour the memory of people who gave their life for Freedom.

The cycle of events “Freedom: What Does It Mean to Us Today?” will be held on January 11–12 at the KTU Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

January 11, Wednesday:

7pm discussion with the Head of Supreme Council and Restorative Parliament Professor Vytautas Landsbergis “Lithuania – in the Eve of Freedom and in 2017”. Moderator Ainius Lašas, the Dean of KTU Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.

January 12, Thursday:

8pm discussion The Proud Homeland with KTU graduate Robertas Gradauskas, who fought for Lithuanian Freedom on 13 January 1991. Moderator Ainius Lašas.

9pm Acoustic concert of Aistė Smilgevičiūtė and the musical band “Skylė”.
