Annotation:

The aim of the doctoral dissertation is to improve the mechanical behaviour of biocompatible carbon fibre-reinforced poly(methyl methacrylate) composites and extend their application for the manufacturing of orthopaedic devices. In this study, poly(methyl methacrylate) is proposed as the matrix material of carbon fibre-reinforcing composites modified with such nanofillers as organic and natural nanotubes as well as layered silicates (montmorillonite and betonite) in order to improve their flexural properties and resistance to nail penetration and impact. This leads to the extension of their application for the manufacturing of orthopaedic devices.
