Annotation:

With an arrival of mass higher education, growing number of school leavers choose studies at universities and colleges. Thus questions of successful choice of studies come to the first place. It is necessary to pay attention to entrant’s environment and the factors functioning in it. This dissertation in the field of education is aimed to solve the research problem: what educational factors and how they are influencing the rational decision making to enter the university studies? Analysis of scientific literature allowed to substantiate the General model of the factors of the rational decision-making process to enter to university. Five models of the factors of the rational decisions to study technological and physical sciences, which were combined into common system, have been identified by empirical research. All these models emphasize educational factors in the context of other factors by concretizing them for separate stages of the decision-making process. The obtained empirical data can serve not only for the surveyed university but also for other universities in Lithuania willing to increase the importance of educational factors by directing pupils to choose the studies of technological and physical sciences.
