Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Institute of Environmental Engineering is joining Delft University of Technology (Netherlands) initiative “Cool Down The Planet”.
“Cool Down The Planet” by Delft University of Technology has the ambition of being the first real crowd engineering instrument to help solve the most urgent topic of our times – global warming.
Why it is crowd engineering? This tool enables international students, independent experts and enthusiasts to brainstorm and work online in a special platform to answer detailed questions. The goal is to catch attention for the running challenges, to have interesting input for the second round, where finalists will manage their online collaboration on the platform.

Challenge No. 2 – HOW TO BOOST TRUCKS ON HYDROGEN
First deadline (round 1): June 29, 2018
While battery electric trucks can operate efficiently in urban areas, hydrogen technology has a key role to play in zero-emission logistics over longer distances. Heavy-duty vehicles with a fuel cell range extender – while not yet commercially available in het EU – have huge potential.
Design a technical concept and devise a credible scenario to give hydrogen-fuelled road transport a substantial boost.
How can we ultimately speed up the process with H2? How can we get trucks to run on this zero-emission fuel as promptly as possible?
