Annotation: The dissertation examines the impact of production digitalization on corporate financial performance, emphasizing investments in equipment and technology. While digitalization is widely recognized as a key driver of competitive advantage, the literature raises questions about whether such investments yield the expected financial benefits. Some studies suggest positive effects, while others highlight challenges, such as the “digitalization paradox,” where companies fail to achieve the anticipated financial gains despite significant investments. The research aims to develop a methodology to assess the impact of investment in production digitalization on financial performance, considering regional and company size differences. Using regression models and financial indicators, the study analyses data from 30 European countries covering the period from 2012 to 2022. Results show that production digitalization positively influences financial performance, yet regional and size-related differences are relevant. Companies in Western Europe, particularly larger firms, tend to better leverage digitalization, while smaller companies in Eastern Europe face more challenges. This dissertation contributes to the literature by offering new methods to evaluate digital investments’ financial impact and providing practical recommendations for companies to optimize their digitalization strategies for long-term financial growth.
