Every PhD student faces the challenge of writing and presenting academic texts. It is much easier to solve such challenges when you are not on your own. Therefore, we would like to invite you to an academic writing boot camp for PhD students, which will take place on Saturdays.
This boot camp is a continuous project that aims to encourage mutual support between PhD students and to improve their competences in academic writing, presentations, and reviewing (esp. in English).
At the beginning of our meeting, you will have the chance to get consultations by Vilma Sukackė, a lecturer and PhD student of Educational sciences at KTU as well as by other PhD students.
You will be able to get advice on writing various types of academic texts or their separate parts (e.g. abstract), preparing and giving presentations, improving your academic English, etc. As the boot camp will take place in a reserved work room at KTU Central library, PhD students will also have the opportunity to use the library collection, databases, and help of library staff.
The program of the second meeting:
11.00–12.00 The most common mistakes when writing a scientific text in English; consultations (you can also bring a piece of a written text and get feedback on what to improve).
12.00–17.30 Academic writing session: PhD students try to meet their goals of the day (e.g. collect data, write a paper, prepare a presentation, etc.). We will have a lunch break on the agreed time.
