Previous Global Faculty Week Events

KTU Global Faculty Week has welcomed international academics since its first gatherings in 2019, growing each year into a wider platform for global collaboration. This section highlights previous editions that have connected lecturers from around the world with KTU students and colleagues, fostering shared knowledge, multicultural dialogue and long-term partnerships.

The 6th KTU Global Faculty Week 2025 was organised on the 5-8th of May by the International Relations Department of Kaunas University of Technology and brought together over 100 participants from 71 universities representing 28 countries.

Held in early May, the annual event aimed to strengthen international cooperation, exchange best practices, and promote the internationalisation of higher education.

This year’s theme, “Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Higher Education: Challenges and Opportunities,” sparked insightful discussions on how AI is transforming teaching, learning, and research. Participants attended training sessions led by EU expert Gianluca Coppola, thematic workshops by Professor Tomas Blažauskas, and lectures by Neringa Dubauskienė, whose talk “Artificial or Intellectual – the Future of Higher Education” attracted wide attention.

All KTU faculties hosted international guests, with the largest numbers welcomed by the Faculties of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Mechanical Engineering and Design, and the School of Economics and Business.

Visitors came from across the globe — from South Africa, Ecuador, Norway, and Ukraine to India, Malaysia, and Brazil — delivering lectures and participating in cultural and networking activities.

The event once again proved to be an inspiring platform for innovation, collaboration, and global engagement — and KTU is already looking forward to welcoming new guests in 2026.

On April 22–26, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) hosted Global Faculty Week 2024, which aimed to enrich the study content with an international study experience at home. For the first time, answering the demands of the participants, KTU invited both lecturers and administrative staff to the Global Faculty Week. A training course on burnout and stress, a topic most pertinent to nowadays’ lifestyle, was offered for the guests and KTU community.

The Global Faculty Week 2024 welcomed participants from four continents – Africa, America, Asia and Europe, representing almost 60 partner universities. The guests delivered lectures, and shared their knowledge and expertise with the University students from all the faculties.

The largest number of visiting teachers and staff came to the School of Economics and Business. During the Global Faculty Week, lecturers from all over the world taught at all KTU faculties, thus significantly contributing to internationalisation at home.

In addition to the professional activities, the participants of the event were invited to attend open lectures on burnout by Simona Pajaujienė and Almantas Dulkys, as well as attended a rich cultural programme, during which they were able to get to know not only KTU and Kaunas but also visited Trakai and Vilnius.

On April 24-28 Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) hosted the fourth international teaching week “Global Faculty Week 2023”, which aimed to enrich the content of study programmes and strengthen cooperation with partners around the world. This year, a particularly large number of applications has been received – more than 100 guest lecturers from 32 countries around the world delivered lectures, shared their knowledge and expertise to the University students from all the faculties.

The largest number of participants came to the School of Economics and Business, Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Design, and Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts.

The guests also participated in a variety of cultural activities, visited the campus of the university, attended the museum and expanded their professional connections during the networking event.

In the last week of April, the 3rd KTU international teaching week took place, during which 50 guest lecturers from 22 countries were giving lectures to the University students. The event was organised in a mixed way – more than half of the guest lecturers were teaching in person, the rest gave lectures online.

The lectures were integrated into the study modules, so there were no changes in the timetable for the students. Hundreds of students benefited from this experience, it was a great way to make the students acquainted with a different academic culture and to broaden their approach to their studies. Visiting teachers not only passed on new knowledge but also taught in different ways, shared their cultural and personal experiences.

For the first time ever, Global Faculty Week at KTU was hosted virtually. However, it turned out to be not an obstacle but rather as a greater opportunity for lecturers from all around the world. A total of 65 professors from 25 different countries all the way from Europe to Asia and Latin America have cooperated with KTU lecturers from 8 different faculties and provided and hosted professionally prepared lectures for hundreds of KTU students.

In addition to teaching, our guests had an opportunity to establish new connections in the academic environment. Participants of Virtual Global Faculty Week 2021 enjoyed an interesting social program where they actively participated in discussions, learned about culture and history of Lithuania and even tried to virtually sing Lithuanian folk songs together.

In October 2019, students of Kaunas University of Technology had the opportunity to gain international academic experience without leaving Lithuania – over 30 lecturers from 4 continents, 17 countries, 23 foreign higher education institutions gave lectures in English at the University’s faculties. KTU teachers and researchers were also able to strengthen cooperation ties with partners from abroad and adopt global practices. Although lecturers from abroad come to the University regularly, this time we brought them together for one week in order to offer and get additional value. The visiting professors gave lectures, conducted seminars, met with counterparts, participated in other academic activities and social and cultural events.
