Povilas Kemėšis

Povilas Kemėšis (Lithuania) is a professor, habilitated doctor, engineer, electrotechnician, pioneer of the practical application of two-dimensional complex number theory.

Kemėšis was leading the Linguistic Systems Research Group from 1993. The group developed a mathematical model of the receptor part of the neural network of the human hearing analyser. Professor is the author of 40 inventions in the area of analysis and recognition of speech signals.

By the efforts of Professor Kemėšis, departmental Laboratories of Signal Research and Automated Control Systems were established at the University; later he was leading these laboratories. Also, Kemėšis was the head of the Department of Production Automation and the Department of Control Systems.

The main fields of Kemėšis research: vector measurement devices, control of multi-dimensional objects, automated control systems, analysis and synthesis of language systems, automated recognition of speech signals, informatics engineering of the control system “human-machine”.

Kemėšis is the author of 150 scientific papers, he wrote and published the following publications: “Theory of Calculation Complexes” (Lit. “Skaičiavimo kompleksų teorija”) (two volumes, 1974–1976), “Theory of Two-Dimensional Alternating Current Sequence Systems” (Russian language, with K. Kriščiūnas, 1975), “Recognition of Speech Signals According to their Structural Characteristics” (Russian language, with other authors, 1977), “Algorithms of Speech Signal” (Lit. “Kalbos signalo algoritmai”) (1996) and “Neural Network of Hearing” (Lit. “Klausos neuroninis tinklas” (with A. Stasiūnas, 2001).
