Anders Fogh Rasmussen

Anders Fogh Rasmussen (Denmark) is a politician, Prime Minister of Denmark (2001–2009), Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization – NATO (2009–2014).

During the period of his work as Secretary-General of NATO, the organisation implemented significant steps towards stabilisation of the situation in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Libya and other parts of the world, intensively worked towards cooperation with Russia, made particularly important decisions regarding the implementation of the smart defence concept.

Rasmussen was awarded the following State Orders of Lithuania by the Presidents of the Republic of Lithuania: The Grand Cross of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas for merits and assistance for Lithuania on its way to accession to the European Union (2004) and the Grand Cross of the Order of the Vytautas the Great for merits to the Republic of Lithuania and promotion of Lithuania in the world (2014).

Title of Honorary Doctor is awarded for introduction of the knowledge and advanced future technologies for the implementation of the smart defence concept and for the intellectual integrity in terms of defence of the fundamental ideals of freedom.
